Car Insurance Hyundai (Car Insurance). cylinder head removal?cylinder head removal? Bought a used 25 horse Evinrude, I don't know much about outboards. 2 cylinder 2 strok electric start. It turns over when I press the start button, both plugs have a spark, but won't start. I did this in water. I pulled the plugs and they were moist. Compression in top cylinder is 50 psi, bottom cylinder had no compression. Pulled the head cover off. The water passageways had exhaust carbon buildup, the thermostat had a black tar/grease residue all over it. I'm guessing the bottom cylinder is leaking exhaust into the cooling system. I removed the studs holding in the head, but I can't seem to get it to budge. The 2 spark plugs are out. Is there some trick to removing the head? Nope, no real trick. The head gasket has bonded with the block and cylinder head. To remove the head, use a thin bladed metal scraper to separate the components. Try to "split" the head gasket, and be careful not to mar the mating surfaces on the head and block. Here's a trick for removing the remaining gasket material on the head and block: spray liberally with Easy-Off oven cleaner, wait 1/2 hr, and gently scrape off the remaining material with a non-metallic scraper. Make sure you clean up any over-spray from the oven cleaner immediately, as it is very corrosive. No pun intended, but you're in the same "boat" as so many people I've seen that buy used boat motors. The engine won't start because it's completely shot. The bores and rings are probably completely gone. Two strokes kick out a lot of power for their size and weight, but they are finicky engines that need careful TLC to last anywhere near as long as a 4-stroke. Most of them, needless to say, don't get that. The head is probably just stuck down, you might have to knock it loose. Auto parts : Oil Filler Tube Acura 1995 . Oil Filter Alfa Romeo 1996 . Someone please explain to the rules of a moped? Okay so i'm moving thirty minutes away from my boyfriend i'm 15 years old and i'm like really distraught about it so my parents told me they would get me a moped or something so I could just go see him whenever I want. (p.s. we've been dating for a year and a half so they understand) The moped is great on gas and blah blah blah. But okay from what I understand: Texas state law says that I need a motorcycle license to operate a moped if its over 50cc and in order to get that i'll need- My permit (which is $365) Take a motorcycle safety course (which is $190) Take a written exam (which is around $20) but what I don't understand stand is my moped will be 50cc but when I talked to all the people on the phone they all said I still need to do ALL of that ^^ And yea I know the prices are a little irrelevant but COME ON! $575 just to get my motorcycle license plus the $500-700 I'll spend on the moped. But it will help with the gas prices cause it'll cost about 3 grand a year if I only see him 3 times a week if I drive but anyways yea it'll be cheaper. ANYWAYS...My question is: How does a 15 year legally drive a 50cc moped? What are the steps I need to take? & About how long will the whole process take considering it would be my first priority? car insurance. Auto parts : Oil Pressure Gauge Sensor Dodge 2005. Ive got a small problem with spark plugs which feel like thier cemented into my engine block, they're fair arkward to get to, under the fuel tank and into the engine of the zzr Im thinking if I use a T handle ratchet to get the most torque possible im just going to ruin the cylinder heads An improv T hadle (drilling a hole through a normal screwdriver and putting a metal rod through the hole) nearly ****** up the screwdriver, the amount of force I put on it, but it just looks like rubber/plastic compound Ive oiled the plugs for now, and decided to wait until I get some opinions If its a mechanics job Im just gonna have to scrap her, there's quite a bit of DIY needs doing before I even take it for an MOT car insurance. Hyundai . How to Replace a Thermostat on a 2003 Monte CarloThe 2003 Monte Carlo was designed to be a competitive entry into the growing market of high performance vehicles. Along with its counterparts, the Monte Carlo can be prone to overheating if the coolant circulation system stops working properly. Installing a replacement thermostat is usually the easiest fix to get the high performance engine back on the road. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Monte Carlo thermostat RTV gasket maker gel 8mm socket Small metal scraper (if necessary) Step by Step : 1 Remove the bolts that hold the thermostat regulator housing onto the intake of the Monte Carlo with an 8mm socket. The bolts will be reused. Do not discard them. 2 Remove the thermostat regulator housing from the intake and push it off to the side. The radiator hose does not have to be removed since there is room to slide the hose and the housing off to the side. 3 Pull the thermostat out of the Monte Carlo intake, then pull the thermostat gasket off the intake manifold. Both can be discarded; they will not be used again. Inspect the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and thermostat regulator housing for any remaining pieces of gasket. Both surfaces must be clean for reinstall. If there is any gasket material left, scrape it off using a small metal scraper. 4 Place the new thermostat into the intake manifold and the place a moderate amount of RTV gasket maker on the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and thermostat regulator housing. Allow the RTV gasket maker to firm up for 15 minutes. 5 Bolt the thermostat regulator housing back into place using the original bolts. Tighten the bolts snugly so that radiator fluid does not leak out. Tips & Warnings Do not change the thermostat when the engine is hot. Hot fluid can reach more than 200 degrees and cause burns. RTV gasket maker is a tube of gel that is spread on a metal mating surface and when exposed to air forms a rubberized seal. PVC gasket maker is used as an alternative to factory style paper gaskets that can tear when being installed.
Hyundai . How to Replace the Thermostat in a 1998 Ford EscortIf your 1998 Ford Escort has not been warming up properly, it's most likely due to sludge buildup around the mechanical thermostat. The sludge causes the thermostat to fail in a "safe" position; in other words, it will fail in the open position, letting fluid flow freely through the engine. This prevents the engine from heating properly. Although this is better then overheating, it can get rather cold inside the car during the winter. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Replacement thermostat RTV gasket maker Wrench Screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Locate the thermostat housing by tracing the radiator hose to the location on the the intake manifold where it connects. The component the hose connects to is the thermostat housing. 2 Remove the radiator hose from the housing by loosening the band clamp that holds the hose onto the housing. Push the clamp farther onto the hose to prevent losing it while changing the thermostat. Pull the hose off of the housing and push it off to the side. Plug the hole in the radiator hose with a shop towel to prevent fluid from leaking onto the engine. 3 Remove the two bolts that hold the thermostat housing to the intake manifold of the Escort. These bolts will be used again so they should not be discarded. Once the bolts are removed, the thermostat housing can be lifted off of the intake manifold. 4 Remove the old paper gasket that was sandwiched between the housing and the manifold. Pull the old thermostat out of the intake. The thermostat sits on a machined lip inside of the intake and is not bolted into place. 5 Place RTV gasket maker on the machined surface of the intake manifold where the old gasket was. Allow 5 minutes for the RTV gasket maker to "skin" over or firm up. 6 Place the new thermostat into the intake manifold. Pay attention to the top end. This end must protrude from the intake manifold or the thermostat will not work properly. 7 Place the thermostat housing onto the intake manifold and bolt it back into place using the old bolts. You'll notice some RTV gasket maker squeeze out. This is normal and should not be removed. It will assist in the sealing process. 8 Pull the shop towel out of the radiator hose and reconnect it to the housing with the band clamp. The clamp should be very tight to prevent leaking. The driveshaft runs to the rear wheels of conventional rear-wheel-driven vehicles and ends in another set of gears called the differential. The differential turns the power of the engine and the transmission 90 degrees into the axles that connect the drive wheels of the car. Because on most vehicles, the axle is set at right angles to the driveshaft, you can see that the differential is really changing the direction of the power so that the drive wheels can turn. Chapter 9 looks at drive trains and transmissions in detail, and Chapter 17 helps you deal with them. Hyundai . How do you fold down the split seat in get into the trunk?
